Lycra

Registered trademark of the elastane fibre (see) invented by DuPont in 1959 and initially used for medical stockings. Lycra is able to elasticize any kind of fabric, improving its characteristics. Thanks to Lycra, stockings become even more tight-fitting and resistant, for a better fit and appearance.
Lycra may be used bare (see) or covered with another yarn or fibre.
The Lycra percentage contained in tights may vary, on average, from 8% to 20%.
